Thanks for being here!
I’m Kathryn Marie, but you can call me Kate. I am the designer behind Dyes Happy, previously known as Kathryn Marie designs.
I come from a line of talented designers, from sewers to industrial designers. I was gifted a sewing machine at a young age by my grandmother which lead me on this beautiful path of creating smiles through fabric and dye.
For the formal part, I received my Bachelors of Science in Fashion Design at Philadelphia University. I began my professional design career working for Lane Bryant Outlet and Catherine’s Outlet, Anthropologie and Peace Love World.
Today, I am dedicated to dyeing as well as creating fabric and surface pattern designs for licensing and the public.
Fun facts about me:
I have a full time wine business called Survives on Wine. I write and educate about Portuguese wines.
I’m a dog mom to the sweetest black lab mix named Leo. He is my studio side kick and brings me lots of joy.
I am a Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor, IU Simon Cancer Center saved my life.
I love to read, mostly classic literature and cozy mysteries.
Nature inspires everything I do. I love the beauty our planet has to offer and find inspiration everywhere outside. Most days you can find me in our garden enjoying the birds.
Thank you for being here!
